"The Love of a Young (Girl)"
An old Ilocano song favorite
Lyrics version as popularized by Nora Aunor
Ti ayat ti maysa nga ubing,
Nasamsam-it ngem hasmin
Kasla sabong nga apag-ukrad
Iti bulan ti Abril
Ti ayat ti maysa nga lakay,
Aglalo no agkabaw,
Napait, napait,
napait nga makasubkar
Anansa ta o lelong,
Agsapul ka tay balo
Nga kapadpada ta uban mo
Ken dayta tuppol mo
Ba bay-am nga panunoten
Ti ayat ti maysa nga ubing
Aglalo, aglalo no adda akin-aywanen
Anansa ta o lelong,
Agsapul ka tay balo
Nga kapadpada ta uban mo
Ken dayta tuppol mo
Ba bay-am nga panunoten
Ti ayat ti maysa nga ubing
Aglalo, aglalo no adda akin-aywanen
Ba bay-am nga panunoten
Ti ayat ti maysa nga ubing
Aglalo, aglalo no adda akin-aywanen
Aglalo, aglalo no adda akin-aywanen
Notes
This song is about the youthful love of a young girl, contrasted with the love of a man in his advanced years and seems to exhibit senility (agkabaw).
It says that the love of a young girl is sweeter than jasmine, like a flower that springs in April. In contrast, the old man's can be somewhat unwelcome as in 'bitter' (napait).
The singer tells the old man to leave the young lady alone and look for a widow instead, with very specific details:
Finally, the singer makes a plea to the old man to get his mind off the young lady. Not just for the gross incompatibility but because there is someone who is already taking care of her / she is under my care (Aglalo no addan maki-aywanen / adda ak ken aywanen).
On another perspective ...
I like to think of the original theme as the heart of a child instead.
The love of a child is genuine, pure, outpouring and contagious. It warms the heart in a way that only a child can.
The heart of a child is free from the daily stress of adult life, the challenges, difficulties and the baggage of burdens and complexities.
If we can rediscover the young heart of a child that once lived in us, we can see the world again in a different point of view. We can see the beauty of the world from a pair of innocent eyes, enjoy the sweet smell of roses and the fun of playing along the shore or river banks, outdoors in the free leisure facilities God has given us. And we could recognize that we have a Father who is rich, has a kingdom prepared for us. We would then conduct ourselves as His worthy children.

Slightly different lyrics but seems more accurate and faithful to original version
